ElectraCraft Electric Boats Press Releases
ElectraCraft Opens Two More Locations for Sales / Service
Newport Beach and Channel Islands Stores Expand Market Reach
Westlake Village, CA – July 15, 2009. ElectraCraft, the leading manufacturer of electric boats in the United States, recently announced phase one of a nationwide expansion plan, opening new locations at Earl’s Landing in Newport Beach and at Marine Emporium Landing, Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard, CA. These new locations expand ElecraCraft’s reach in Southern California from the headquarters location in Westlake Village.
“In the current economy boat sales have been particularly hard hit,” said Karl Klessig, President and CEO of ElectraCraft. “Despite this climate, our sales have been growing and our Westlake Village location has seen solid gains this year.” Klessig explained that this expansion is an opportunity to increase the company’s position in the marketplace. Recently ElectraCraft began delivering boats into locations in Wisconsin and Michigan, further broadening the company’s reach.
The Channel Islands ElectraCraft dealership and showroom, managed by industry veteran Frank Laza, is now open for business, offering the complete line of ElectraCraft boats, accessories and parts, plus the full line of ElectraCare maintenance services. This retail store, located at the Marine Emporium complex in Channel Islands Harbor, 3550 Harbor Boulevard, is open seven days a week. It serves customers in Channel Islands and Ventura Harbor and can be reached at (805) 436-7803.
Opening August 1, the Newport Beach ElectraCraft Store will be managed by Jay Carson, who has long-time experience in the boating industry. This location will offer complete product sales and full electric boat rentals, as well as parts and accessories for most electric boats. In addition, this store also will provide full-line ElectraCare maintenance service for most boats, electric or non-electric, up to 24 feet. Located at Earl’s Landing, 2751 West Coat Highway, Suite 210 (above Billy’s at the Beach), the ElectraCraft retail store will be open seven days a week offering sales and service to customers in Newport Beach, Balboa and Huntington Harbor and can be reached at (949) 650-4833.
ElectraCraft has been designing and building high-quality, low maintenance, eco-friendly boats since 1975. These high-end designed boats are suited for cruising freshwater lakes and rivers in addition to salt-water harbors. Because they are easy to handle, roomy, economical, and insured by lifetime-limited warranties, ElectraCraft powerboats are rated as best in the industry.
Frank Butler, owner of Catalina Yachts, formed the first concept and design of ElectraCraft in the early 1970s. His first electric powerboat design was a 15-foot boat equipped with four large batteries and a 1.5 horsepower DC motor. Skip Toller joined him in 1975 and expanded the concept of battery power, introducing three models, including a twin-drive system for the catamaran design.
Now, with new owners and Klessig as President and CEO, the company is positioned for growth and expansion. ElectraCraft has more than 4,000 boats in use today that can be seen in 33 states across the U.S. and in protected waterways in England, Holland, Sweden, Japan, Canada and the Cayman Islands. “ElectraCraft powerboats are designed for cruising comforts and performance with the customer in mind,” Klessig explained. “We view our customers as partners in this business and we are dedicated to providing outstanding value to every one of them.” The company has received many compliments from customers, praising ElectraCraft powerboats for their smooth, quiet and reliable performance.
ElectraCraft has defined the electric boat industry and continues to provide innovative design in both catamaran and monohull styles. Currently, the company offers three designs – the Traditional Series, the Lapstrake Series and the Catamaran Series – in lengths of 16, 18 and 21 feet. ElectraCraft boats have been purchased for both private and commercial use.
